Archiving Filipino American shrimping history through packaging design
Natyuong Hipon - Dried Shrimp, is a packaging redesign of typical dried shrimp packaging as a way to honor early Filipino Americans in Louisiana and their contributions to dried shrimp in America. Dried Shrimp packaging is typically very simple or East Asian or American centric; however, Filipino Americans have long contributed to the shrimping industry since the 1800s. This redesign aims to archive their history and legacy, utilizing Filipino motifs, type design, and language to document their existence in America.
